Albeit Records is organically growing as a respected label in the underground scene. The Bristol-based imprint’s creative output is stripped back, with an emphasis placed on the music. Recently hosting a series of events in Bristol and Berlin, the label continues to gain support from the wider electronic music community.
ALBEIT002 sets a milestone for Ish as his first solo EP. The Swiss artist – now living in Berlin – produces with a combination of analogue and modular hardware from his studio next to Funkhaus, in Rummelsburg. All tracks were recorded live in one take, with minor alterations and mixing afterwards in logic
Trommel premiere ‘Cheaper’, the A2 from the three-track release – a minimal techno cut suited to intimate club spaces. The rolling high hats and sound design are dynamic, adding energy alongside a stripped back bassline.
Point Reyes is a versatile EP – the A1s driving percussions and panning synths would work well in a big room environment; whilst the B1 rounds off the release nicely with a melodic broken beat composition, perfect for warm up or after hours.
