Established in Madrid in 2021 by founder Thomas Moulin Baguette Magique Records is aims to bring to light the many talents found around the world. Not being confined by genres their first release is collection of tracks by Uruguayan artist Enzo and for his first release he has taken on the alias of DJ E. His four track EP ‘JMG 88’ rolls between peak time tech house, phat electro and deep moments.
We pick up DJ E’s debut release with A1 ‘En La Hora’ and the collab with Mendez has very mystic beginnings. A combination of Asian flutes and delayed synths lead to a much more bass heavy passage of the track. Wavering hi hats flicker, noisy claps thunder in the background working together to offer just the right contrast to the mysterious lead musical elements at play.
Switching things up considerably on A2 is ‘Abduccion Dacha’, a gloomy electro workout fit for the darkest of floors. Pitch black bass tones and riddim vocals bounce between the corners of the track and a bassline that even Nicolas Lutz would take care to drop makes an impressive appearance. Flipping over and B1 ‘Primera Ilamada’ is a much deeper trip with a funky garage twist. Rounding out an impressive first release from DJ E is ‘Wiz that’ that features an upbeat groove and a head nodding walking bassline that conjures up visions of a bouncing terrace taking control of the sun’s powerful rays.
