Brave Trax introduces a new chapter with the debut EP from Copenhagen-based producer HAKEEM, working under the alias Pocket Candy. ‘Dreamin’ is a five-track curation that showcases both his own productions and two reworks from fellow local artists, offering a fresh insight into the curious sound coming from this Danish collective.
Our focus falls on A.Dixen’s interpretation of ‘Rain Dance’. His version keeps the percussion tight and punchy, adding a fruity swing that brings a peak time energy to the track. Melodic layers take on a more pensive quality with bleepy atmospheres drifting overhead, whilst choppy vocal blips add colour without dominating the mix. The effect is hypnotic, yet firmly rooted in the dancefloor, giving the original a different perspective without losing its character.
The EP opens with ‘Space Pie’, a euphoric jam built on bright, elastic grooves and a lush, positive atmosphere. ‘Rain Dance’ carries a deep US-house feeling with pads and textures that nod towards legends like Derrick Carter or Theo Parrish. It’s a track that balances punch with elegance, perfect for a sunset or sunrise moment.
Clever vocal snippets and flowing synth lines bringing a richness to the groove. ‘Sofa Surfer’ rounds out the originals in lighter territory with playful, nimble rhythms and winding synth line painting a light and airy vibe.
Remix duties come from Braver and A.Dixen, both opearting in Copenhagen’s scene. Braver turns in a crisp, groove-heavy version of ‘Sofa Surfer’, keeping things quirky with unique dubby atmospheres. The result is lean and functional, maintaining the original’s playful character while pushing it into club-ready territory.
Across all five tracks, Pocket Candy presents a debut that is confident and versatile without straying from its core sound. Brave Trax’s growing identity continues to shape around their visions of club music, blurring the lines between house and techno territories.
