Last month, we announced the launch of new party brand and record label FUTURA. LEON is the man in charge, a purveyor of hedonistic vibes and a mainstay on the White Isle. With such an artist at the helm, you know the delivery is going to be on point. The man himself marked the launch with his own track released soon after the broadcast, from which we premiered Koko’s version of ‘Get Back Up’. Little time is wasted and the next episode is already here. Milan’s Proudly People serve up ‘No Sweat’ EP, with Luuk Van Dijk and Sublee on remix duties.
We present Sublee’s 44.4268 Extended Remix of ‘Latitude Zero’. An artist so well versed in conjuring smooth Romanian grooves needs little introduction. What’s great about this EP is the alternative direction – the rework isn’t sat in amongst the same and brings a completely fresh take on the original.
Hypnotic synth subtly sets the scene in the intro, ready to be elaborated later. Delayed vocal signals go, sounding the way for a deep electro bassline that will pulsate for the next nine minutes. Percussion is layered between sharp highs and an underlying bongo current. The rhythm is infectious, the atmosphere captivating.
Rominimal characteristics are prevalent, the repetitive, soothing groove and rolling rhythms taking hold throughout. But the melodies are different. Chord progressions spell euphoria, dancing delicately around the soft intensities of the vocal. Energy is constant, a dreamy build made for warming up the melting pot of the dance floor.
The originals take a different direction. Opening with ‘No Sweat’, a groovy deep house piece centred around a breezy vocal and sharp breakdowns. Luuk Van Dijk remixes this one. ‘Latitude Zero’ sits next, growling in its bassline beneath a lighter rhetoric.
