Trend Records return with more musical treats, only two months since the last. Coming back to the fore is label co-founder Alessio Collina, with a tasty four tracker tuned finely to the flavour of house music.
On the premiere we have ‘Work It (For Your Love)’, a groovy dance floor filler that charges through an infectious blend of the old school. Sharp, snapping percussion sets the rhythm. It’s those synths that really catch your attention, dancing brightly next to fuelling energy of the high, raised vocal sample. Bursts of emotion above a beat that makes you want to move.
The EP opens with ‘Piano Luv’, bubbling deep house with a bassline that drives a force to be reckoned with. Ripples of power, sure to blast the best use of a big sound system. Warm piano riffs dance dainty melodies alongside trancey chords, succulent pads set nicely for the summer.
‘Everytime I See’ strips it back, as sultry vocals push the message to a determined beat. Those highs remain, but this one twists further into other realms of curiosity. Moving through the motions, ‘Driving Fast in LA’ brings the EP to a close. It’s a perfect blend of pummelling, breakbeat groove and emotive charge, an expression of light through music.
Collina has been paving the way for up and coming artists with Trend, at the same time finding the time to showcase his own sound. Continuing to involve himself in a range of projects ever since his early teenage years, he is proven to be a beacon in the scene of the Italian underground.
‘Mind Runner’ EP is available to pre-order from Bandcamp, due for release on 7th January.
