Foreman aka FI-LO steps up for the next release of Brooklyn based label Jobsite Records.
Putting their mark on fruity, stripped-back club tools, the project position themselves as having ‘the right tools for the right job’. Shared between a collective of friends and producers, the crew have flown onto the circuit via their frivolous tech-house jams, bringing a loose party energy inspired by the likes of UK garage and tech-house.
Foreman is a new alias from FI-LO who recently released on Alphaville Records, the label from Spaced resident Tom Cottrell. It’s fascinating to hear the UK-influence in many of these tracks produced over in the US, flexing snappy snares and slinky percussions heavily linked to UKG.
Foreman brings the first solo EP to their Bandcamp series, presenting four fruity tracks each laced with a throbbing party energy. ‘Weapon-X (No Guest List Mix) is our pick. Driven by a sizzling sub bass chugging away in the mix, slinky hi-hats and a colourful palate of atmospherics shape this peak time tech-house cut. Vocal samples flirt with classic party vocals, darting between sharp snares and an 80s-style stab filling the track with energy.
Menacing 303 acid lines slither underneath the mix bringing a touch of ominous vibes to this wonky number. ‘Destination Fever’ gets even more playful, dropping the tempo and bringing vocals to the forefront. Wobbly vocoder vocals introduce a lush synth section backed by deftly programmed drum machine beats gasping for a big sound system.
Breakbeat influences seep into the latter tracks as a strong 808 pattern takes control in ‘A Little Bird Told Me’. Wrapped in that similar laid back, party vibe, it’s a sun-kissed jam that you can imagine the likes of Shonky or Traumer in an open-air situation.
Significant support surrounds the first releses of Jobsite Records. Given the Brooklyn label is only onto their third Bandcamp release, many diggers are eagerly anticipating their next move.
