Premiere: 1 – Alex Dittrich – Circuits [STNZ042]

Alex Dittrich brings the Brazillian heat to the 42nd release of his label Sintoniza Records.

The prolific force flowing out of Brazil is an inspiring sight. Alex Dittrich’s label sails comfortably past the 40-release mark with this next EP, maintaining the same level of quality and creativity in each output.

As a resident of Lake Club in Águas de Chapecó, the local artist has been consistently nurturing his craft for some time. You only need to take a look at Sintoniza’s Bandcamp to witness the influential presence of this project. Regularly inviting local artists, the dedication to growing the house and minimal movement in Brazil is ever-present, opening the minds of the local people to this corner of dance music.

Diving straight into the heart of the EP, we zoom into the title track ‘Circuit’ in this premiere. Pinned by a slick palate of garage-tipped drums, the track gains a menacing UK vibe with both eyes firmly on the dance floor.

Sweeping synths gradually float into the mix, producing an elegant breakdown that paints a perfect sunrise-ready moment as the track evovles. Fiery stabs and slippery vocal samples add an extra dynamic to the track’s energy, staying within a healthy peak time vibe for the duration. You can definitely see the likes of Voigtmann and Reiss firing this one out across Europe’s dance floors, as well as lighting up the local Brazilian scene supporting their locals.

Alex Dittrich brings a unique blend of influences to his productions, channelling his native Brazilian funk, as well as hearing inspiration from the wider community such as the spirited sound of DJ Koolt and the Phonotheque collective, plus a more nimble UK vibe pushed by the likes of The Ghost and the surrounding community of CDV and Hoppetosse.

The flip side sees another garage-inspired bomb. Bouncy percussion lays the foundations for a monster of a bassline in ‘Love Generation’. It’s the kind of versatile track that you could play at just about any time during the night, weaving nimble drums between squelchy acid lines each laced with a playful charm that would be suitable for an array of audiences.

‘Circuit’ gets a feisty remix from Furz to conclude the three-track EP. Energies meander through a similar up-for-it realm, harnessing driving percussion and a menacing bassline ready to tear up a big sound system.

This versatile release provides a wonderful snippet into the world of electronics in Brazil. Alex and his prolific Sintoniza Records are for sure one to watch – the crew are also hosting events across Chapecó’s vibrant creative scene, with many cool venues combining the world of art and music culture.
