What more can be said about Italian artist Alex Neri that has not already been said? A cornerstone of the world music community, Alex’s contribution to electronic music transcends that of the underground. Having had major commercial success with his longstanding band Planet Funk, Alex is as active now as he has been since the early 90s.

Forming Tenax Recordings shortly after his band’s global smash “Chase The Sun” took over the charts, the first track on the label was “Housetrack”. This release would look to emulate this earlier success, but within underground circles and by the mid 00s Alex was a true force in electronic music straddling both worlds. By this point, Neri had already been DJing since the 80s and release music professionally since the 90s, but his star would continue to rise.

Alex Neri would become to be known as the benchmark in Italian house music and through his residency at Florence club Tenax, he would continue to educate and influence the coming generations of music lovers and DJs. This continued approach to renewing and reenergising has seen Alex release on the new breed of house music labels in Fuse, Slow Life, as well as Wildflower Records which was home to one of his first ever releases back in the mid 90s.

Alex Neri’s journey as a producer is a storied one, as is role as a master selector and music curator. So much so, that we could not wait to have him turn out for our podcast series. Over the course of the 1 hour plus run time, Alex moves slickly through a range of sub genres that peaks at the more electro focused sound that has been a mainstay through his career. Even in such a relatively short space of time Alex displays the thoughtful and balanced mixing style that has ensured his name remains on the lips of the industry and the dancefloor.
