Trommel.187 – Cruz

Bloop Recordings bossman and Portuguese scene lynchpin, Cruz has just returned to his home of Lisbon after an extended tour of South America which saw him play at clubs and festivals in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chile and this is just his latest stint in the America’s. Through his own releases, Bloop Recordings, and DJ sets Cruz is often responsible for the moments that become synonymous with wild weekends in Lisbon’s top venues. Cruz has become a Lisbon staple, and after 17 years of Bloop making its mark next month there is no better time to discover or reacquaint yourself with Cruz.

Having more than a keen ear for electro, Cruz wields a supernatural touch when it comes to sounds of the sinister, but with a flip so unique that makes his sound so hard to find. Stripped back and groove heavy from the beginning, the vinyl pops can be heard pinpoint that although Cruz is at the forefront of emerging new music he is also one of the finest diggers around. Transported straight from space, the constant stream of cosmic hitters keep coming throughout and this mix demands several listens in quick succession. Don’t just take our word for it.

Bloop turns 17 on Saturday, March 2nd with a 2 venue adventure around Lisbon.
