It shows that Polarity Records boss Luca Piermattei grew up around music. The live expert, is a constant source of inspiration and with a youth spent pouring over his fathers record collection it’s clear he has absorbed every single beat. His recent split EP’s for the excellent Nieuw Holland Spoor and Background Rimini are prime examples of the special connection he has to his music.
Known for crafting emotive weapons of the highest order, Luca’s entry to our Free Download series is certainly no different. “DBQ” sets off at a very comfortable peak time speed and the stripped groove is soon coloured with a twisty 303 pattern. Further synthy goodness is soon added to really dial up the intensity, but it is when the flanged synth tones, gated to perfection that this herater really begins to tug on the heart strings.
