The mix we present to you for the 29th edition of our Trommel Podcast series is a mix that represents the sounds of GoDEEP, a project put together by Dan Ghenacia. Although we are told this is perfect for a Sunday afternoon, we feel that this collection of tracks which have been blended together seamlessly by one of the most renowned selectors of our generation is suited to many other times during the week.
3 years ago, Dan laid down foundations for something new. Due to the hectic side of touring around the world regularly, playing as a solo act as well as turning venues upside down with Dyed and Shonky, it became difficult to connect and build memories with close friends in and out of the music industry, so in the winter of 2015 in Ibiza, GoDEEP was born. Starting with a brunch before moving on to a small venue outside of the towering clubland environments, something with more intimacy. No big numbers, just friends, music and togetherness. During the winter seasons, Ghenacia resides in Paris, where he has also taken the GoDEEP model and hosted a number of get-togethers between two venues in 2018, as well as an open air in the summer.
This organic movement is something that has proven to be important to Dan, as well as leaving fond memories in the minds of friends and fellow party goers, which is why this year GoDEEP will be spreading it’s wings and touching down in Barcelona for OFFWeek, collaborating again with the Keep On Dancing crew who will provide outstanding decorations as always. There are also plans in place for GoDEEP in Dan’s soon to be home of Lisbon.
Throughout the mix there is an abundance of chilled yet energetic tracks bouncing between broken beats to house, from the archives of a sparse vinyl collection and compositions. As well as supporting artists from around the globe, the mix also features Dan’s remix of ‘Hold On’ by Chase, as well as an unreleased gem from the man himself.
Finding a balance in the music industry can often be like finding a needle in a haystack, however this talented French artist has found a formula that brings more camaraderie to their lifestyle.
