After Romanian artist Lizz delivered a classy double 12” on East End Dubs’ Eastenderz imprint back in December it is the turn of another Romanian to turn in the goods. With Vlad Arapasu finding homes at some of minimal’s well-known homes such as Subtil, UVAR and Priku’s Atipic his outing on Eastenderz was due to be nothing short of rock solid.
As always Vlad and EED don’t disappoint. The electro-tinged bassline of ‘What Is The Point’ undulates and hypnotises for the duration of the run time before the more spaced out glitches of ‘Udont’ closes out side A. Side B starts out where A left off in full on intergalactic mode, but this time ‘Little Walker” smoothens things out significantly and allows the lush vocals and pad washes to bloom to their full potential. Finally, with B2 joining the cosmic dots on this EP with ‘Cavity’, a similarly space themed number but features a little more grit and bite compared to the previous tracks. Which all results in a pretty darn good EP and worthy of the Eastenderz barometer of quality.
