Due to the impact of COVID-19 on independent businesses hard decisions have had to be made in order to stay afloat and the latest musical institution to be affected is the Technique Tokyo record store in Tokyo’s Shibuya neighbourhood. The popular vinyl emporium previously occupied a central location in the bustling Shibuya area, but due to incurred costs, they have had to move to a more suitable spot in Shibuya.
The main positive to be taken from this news is that the store will aim to have as little downtime as possible and by the time you are reading this Technique should be close to being back up and running in their new location at Shibuya Parco B1f. For those that use the well-stocked website those orders will continue to be shipped and also in store payments will not be possible in this time but hopefully full service will return soon. It is also worth mentioning at this point that this is also a somewhat temporary measure with the location initially being on a yearlong basis, so Technique could potentially be on the move in 12 months’ time. Either way, we are certain that we are not the only ones to learn that Technique will remain an active member of the world record store community.
