Having been given prior written authorisation from the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism to record a stream event at the Bazaar area of historical site Maqam Nabi Musa Sama Abdulhadi has been imprisoned. Being made well aware of the type of music that would be performed by Sama and her team the sad events of Tuesday, December 29th resulted in the illegal detention of Sama and again has added fuel to the fire of the Palestinian Authorities evasion of responsibility.
The arrest of Sama came after a group attacked the event that was taking place at the archaeological location in Jericho and resulted in Sama being the recipient of a campaign of misinformation and hate via social media. This resulted in Sama’s wrongful incarceration and has been met with international uproar and points to Sama being scapegoated by Palestinian politicians.
Having worked tirelessly to promote electronic music internationally the leading Arab artist has now had her detention extended by a further 15 days and a petition has been set up to shine a light on her plight with a request for her immediate release.
At the time of going to print the petition was fast approaching the 50,000 signatures and if you would like to add your support to this worthy cause you can do so by visiting the change.org petition HERE
