The French collective Magie Noire has been pivotal in growing the scene in Montpellier, regularly hosting unique events combining multiple worlds of music.
Their presence within the scene has grown into a reputable source of fruity parties in stunning locations. Making the most of their coastal location, events are often in the most serene spots overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Bookings span a wide range of tastes, inviting the likes of Damian Lazarus, Matthew Jonson and Praslea from their respective corners of club music.
To mark their admirable 10th anniversary, next Saturday 23rd September will welcome a massive two-venue, 14-hour festival. During the day, the celebration kicks off in the lush open-air spot Tropisme where the legendary Danilo Plesssow aka MCDE will play a three-hour set, as well as a live set from the French duo De Phase.
As the sunsets and moods turn towards the night, music heads to the DIEZE warehouse which hosts a unique 360° dance floor, creating that intimate vibe with the DJ booth on the floor.
Music will be taken care of by a unique and interesting curation, first up a new back-to-back from French dons Traumer and Shonky which is sure to lift the energy as the celebration enters the night.
Also on the bill is the growing force and pioneer of Uruguay’s prolific music scene: Z@p. The veteran needs little introduction at this point, known for his spirited sound and electrifying DJ sets, there is sure to be an emotive end to this 14-hour session.
The crew also have plans for video mapping during the event. A live exhibition will take place featuring imaging in an attempt to create a dialogue between art, image and music throughout the evening.
Tickets are available for both events, whether you fancy hearing some of the finest funk, disco and soul from a devoted digger, or want to strap into a night of mind-expanding dance music with some of the world’s finest artists.
