“ELÉTRICO – Porto Music Experience” is a brand new outdoor festival that will take place in Porto from Friday 20 July to Sunday 22 July 2018.
Elétrico is the Portuguese word for Tram, a name chosen in order to connect the energy and culture of the city where it’s held, to the outside world. In fact, the festival’s main aim is to bring the “world to the city of Oporto, and at the same time project the city of Oporto in the world” by mantaining that fresh and vibrant Portuguese character and mix it with sun, nature and music in order to create what the organizers call a cultural shock.
Given the line-up and artists involved, we can easily say that both the intentions and the effort are great, and for sure will be well-repaid.
The location chosen is Parque da Pasteleira, seven hectares of green minutes outside the citycentre, perfect location for a mid-summer weekend of electronic music and fun.
What intrigue us most, needless to say, is the line-up: DeWalta, Fumiya Tanaka, Nicolas Lutz, Rhadoo, SIT (LIVE), Sonja Moonear and Zip all will figure during the three days festival, bringing in the same place the best of the best among the artists and producers from the minimal scene.
The festival, however, is way more: it ranges from Techno to Jazz, Soul, Disco, House and Funk. Peggy Gou, Delano Smith, Honey Dijon, Larry Heard aka Mr Fingers (LIVE) and Nghtmares on Wax all have been involved to complete a diverse and flexible line-up that will makes music fans, whatever their likes are, all happy.
Additional support is given by a wise selection of local talents: Andrè Cascais, Diana Oliveira, Gusta-vo, Joao Maria, Joao Semedo, Joao Tenreiro, Mafalda, Rui Vargas and Vasco Valente. Several of them we have already learnt to appreciate in the recent years, during the booming of the Portuguese scene.
Moreover, the added value of an open air festival that lasts for three days, like ELÉTRICO, is to also give the attendees the chance to assist to various and, why not, dissimilar performances across several style and genres of the sound spectrum, in a relaxed and informal way. Whether it is the eclectic style of Honey Dijon, the classical saxophone-infused vibes of DeWalta, the minimal roller of Fumiya Tanaka or Sonja Moonear, the Romanian sound by Rhadoo and SIT, the acid and rare gems of Nicolas Lutz or the unique selection of Zip, all are perfect for three days of sun.
