Having been there from the very beginning of minimal music it is great to see Vagabundos boss Luciano still tipping his hat to the scene that made him a bona fide superstar. His Cadenza label was hugely influential in the early minimal sound that rominimal and other reductionist strains come from and with his upcoming residency at Amnesia in Ibiza he provides a platform for the next wave of minimal artists to shine.
The first brand to be brought in to his band of Vagabundos is Swiss festival MDRNTY on Friday, June 28th. MDRNTY certainly promotes other forms of club music but they have more than a soft spot for minimal as their line-ups wouldn’t be complete without the likes of Ricardo Villalobos or RPR Soundsystem. For this party, they will be handing over the main room to fellow Swiss native Sonja Moonear, Mathew Jonson will perform live, Giogio Maulini and resident James McHale will complete the party. Meanwhile, on the terrace, Luciano will be joined by Tania Vulcano and Proudly People.
Then, the following week on Friday, July 5th the main room will be helmed by standout Romanian imprint Atipic. The wondrous label which is run by emerging superstar Priku will also be calling in label mates Dan Andrei and Arapu. This will certainly be a night for the books as Luciano will again be out on the terrace flanked by Bedouin and Rockin Moroccin. This music policy is extended further by RPR member Raresh joining Luciano out on the terrace for the closing party of the season on Friday, September 13th for what will surely be a masterclass in crowd control and good vibes.
