French artist and House Of Underground head DVDE is an artist very much on the rise. Having starred for the likes of HOR, The Lot Radio as well as a consistent slew of top club dates his label is also making moves. House Of Underground has a keen ear for the greats and of course house music in its many forms. Already part of the family, Boo Williams, Byron the Aquarius, Scan 7, and Detroit’s Filthiest all have homes on HOU and now the bossman makes his next appearance on his label with his “Ultralucid Paris” EP.
Having explored the deeper side of house music with previous release from aforementioned artist, DVDE goes down a distinctly electro tinged route and our pick of the EP “Good Morning England” pulls no punches whatsoever. Pumping from the outset, the speaker rattling kicks and gnarly 303 bassline go straight for the jugular and no mistaking. The vocal samples are also a nice touch which adds that golden era of house music to proceedings.
A1 and title track “Ultralucid Paris” is similarly electro leaning by way of the sizzling acid bassline and there is also vocal gems from the vocal chops that could easily transport a dancefloor back to the 1980’s heighday of acid house. Flipping over DVDE combines with San Proper who provides the swagger here with a neat guitar / synth hybrid hook line that is beyond infectious.
