The concept behind Melodie‘s forthcoming album ‘Redesigns’ is not a completely unique idea in the world of underground music, but it may be a first for an entire album concept.
“This is the first time I’ve put together eight tracks on a release” Melodie tells Trommel “I thought this would be a great time to go back and re-master some old tracks, to add a new-found freshness to them”
The Bucharest based producer lets the music do the talking, simply naming the tracks on the album ‘Redesigns X’ in Roman numerical order.
Redesigns I showcases how Melodie has become a firm favourite of a top tier DJs such as Zip and Raresh. Clocking in at 11:43, the track is no rush to get anywhere in a hurry. However, just one listen to the beautifully crafted synths will leave you wishing this track never ended.
Sonically, Redesigns I resembles classical music more than it does underground music. It creates an almost esoteric atmosphere for the listener, while the twirling, clicking bassline brings it back to the underground along with the soft 4×4 drums.
Despite almost always exclusively releasing on vinyl, Redesigns will be available via Melodie’s Bandcamp here.
