Michael James continues his prolific streak of sublime productions with this latest contribution to Fuse’s sister label Infuse.
After finding his feet with a string of releases on Constant Sound and two of iO Mulen’s imprints in Hoarder and Mulen Records, the UK artist presents his sixth vinyl release in the past two years.
The premiered ‘O.H. Groove’ leans towards a garage-house tip, with skippy snares and percussion leading the charge around a massive bassline that would feel right at home in a peak time FUSE set from the likes of Enzo Siragusa and Archie Hamilton.
Intricate work in the high end stands out as the track evolves, welcoming trippy vocal-like snaps and pops that add a satisfying character. Eventually alluding to an extended breakdown, heavy strings lather the track, reducing the groove to a simple clap before being swept up by the confident, head-turning bassline.
Each cut brings a tasteful dance floor mood, pinned by swung hats and fizzing basslines, Michael James’ debut on the London label is ready to rack up some playtime across dance floors around the globe, including 93 Feet East in London where he will play for INFUSE on Sunday 02nd February.
