Barcelona-based Memento Records returns to action with their next release, and label boss Idriss D maintains his impeccably high level of curation. This time around, it is the Map crew who brings the heat to summer with “Emotions”.
For the uninitiated, Map is comprised of Massimino Lippoli, Angelino Albanese and Peonia. Perhaps these artists are unknown to you, but Lippoli and Albanese are part of the Sueño Latino collective that released the eponymous track in 1989 to worldwide acclaim.
Featuring a Vocal version and Dub, it is the latter that has piqued our interest. Crisp hats and snares introduce “Emotions” to the dancefloor, the fluted / vox synths conjure heartfelt sessions on a hazy afternoon or a sun-kissed morning. Soaring strings, bubbly bass tones, and an acid line keep feet firmly on the dancefloor while dubbed-out vocals add that human touch that helps to bring the track to a boiling level. Over on the Vocal version, those sublime vocals are extended further and, with it, bring untold levels of spirited feelings.
