A piece from LP by Carl Finlow is not something we’re having here very often. As the label (Serenity In Keos, the sublabel of Distrikt Paris) puts it: “he delivers a record that pushes boundaries and perfectly embodies the spirit of the label. Serenity in Keos unveils Carl Finlow’s latest LP—an immersive journey through haunting downtempo atmospheres and razor-sharp electro. True to our vision, this release ventures deep into uncharted sonic territory, where raw emotion meets pure innovation.” Let’s check it deeper now.
Starting from the B-side and “Hollowed” – a piece that kinda will give you a mood for the whole release, if you decide to start the listening from it, just like we did. A perfect example of slow electro, with the buzzing notes of electro-house and that almost gloomy atmosphere, you’ll find anywhere in electro territory.
“Spellbound”, also from the B-side, is another example of that – a piece that is even more chill than our main one (the buzz is still here, but in the background). The LP opens with “Only Words” – a VERY slow opener, that will suit any mix of that type at its beginning, the mood is set. “Entangled” totally continues the vibe and adds a bit of speed here – it’s just the beginning of the album anyway.
“Angstrom” from the second part of the LP is another downtempo piece with some potential, while “Chirality” is stepping into some bangers territory (still, only with one leg, I would say). “Agitator” stays there, with its additional noises, and, finally, “Agromolecule” finishes everything with the well-known rhythms.
Well, everything you could expect from Carl Finlow is here. If you’re like this, sound yoyaku distribution will cover you. If you don’t like it, maybe listen to it one more time.
