Cologne record label I’m In Love presents its 11th release with four tracks from the rising producer Luise.
The vinyl project accompanies a series of events in Cologne, regularly inviting a diverse range of selectors including DJ Bone, The Zenker Brothers and Julia Govor to express in the city.
After a series of successful vinyl outputs from close friends of the project in Habise, Markus Suckut and Sandilé, the Hannover-based artist Luise is next up with a collection of uplifting grooves.
Slowly making a name for herself across Germany, Luise has been spinning at the likes of Hoppetosse and Sisyphos, as well as sharing her sets and productions on her personal Soundcloud.
It’s immediately evident there is a burning desire for spicy, emotional sounds that bring a refreshing zest to the dance floor. We focus on the swung weapon ‘Cluster’ from the records’ A2.
It’s a unique take on house music, pinned by slick beats offering subtle hi-hats and perky percussion. Perfect for various times during a DJ set, the melodic elements bring a warm energy that could just as comfortably warm up a club as it would bring a smile to the fragile after-hour scenario.
Nostalgic synths wash over the rear of the groove, adding a lush depth whilst nimble melodies and percussion weave between one another. You can imagine the track bringing wholesome cheers from the devoted dancers of Hoppetosse, or soundtracking a magical sunrise moment.
Moods meander through a unique set of atmospheres throughout the record. The A1 stays within similar dreamscape-type territory, bringing big synth lines towards a buoyant bassline ready for the peak time floor.
The B-side dips into funky breakbeat and garage-leaning vibes with two healthy dance floor weapons. ‘Inspiration’ nods to the roots of UK garage with a sexy vocal and slinky beats gasping for a loud sound system.
The conclusive track ‘Acid Swing’ does exactly what it says on the tin. Menacing acid melodies and an infectious swung groove could definitely make you want to open up Ableton and have a stab at producing this versatile and uplifting mood.
This rising collective I’m In Love is definitely one to watch with an impressive vinyl output, as well as frequent radio shows expressing the crew’s tastes.
