Brazil-based label Baixa Records returns with a heartfelt LP from DJ Melted, which chronicles a real-life experience. A longplayer packed full of emotive electro with a dashing of Italo awaits.
We begin our in-depth look at DJ Metled’s LP with our pick of the release – “Nightwalker”. With a serious nod to French Touch, DJ Melted takes us on a journey that begins with a room-filling snare, quickly joined by an earworming arpeggiating bassline and a sinister vampiric anecdote.
Taking it back to the beginning of the release, and “I was there…but”, the French influence takes a bigger step into focus. The uplifting synths and noise snares light an emotive fire in the track. Next comes “F zone (dirty chardonnay),” and the energy level dips a fair bit, with a more peak-time electro disco bomb.
Treading similar ground, “As soon as possible” circles an 80s guitar-esque synth, and moving towards the business end of the release, “Livin’ dead girl” is a more dancefloor-focused groover. Driving the track is a tuned-down bass guitar that motors a oolong at just the right pace to keep the party going. Rounding out the release is “Good news for Rachel” and vocoded vocal snips and distorted guitar licks provide serious attitude to the closing track.
