Since her 2019 debut on Optimo Music, the Rome-born, Milan-based Matisa has released on Permanent Vacation, Running Back, Correspondant, and Public Possession, with sets at Berghain’s Panorama Bar, fabric, and Circoloco. Her debut mini-album In My Head landed via Seth Troxler’s Slacker 85. This year she has launched her own label, The Naked Dance — built for the experimental edges of her sound and artists who share her belief in an open, uncompromising dancefloor. Taking care of the maiden voyage herself, she next welcomed Enness for the second edition.
Taking this envelope-pushing sound further, Matisa is next step up to the decks for our podcast series. From the very beginning, energy levels peak, and they seldom dip below this level throughout. Tough, brooding house bleeds into lush, percussive techno with a smattering of druggy overtones.
