Trommel.221 – Satoshi Otsuki

Womb resident Satoshi Otsuki is something of a local legend. The list of artists who have visited Tokyo and have benefited from the sonic support of Satoshi is staggering. From Satoshi Tomiie to Vlad Caia, Maher Daniel to Junkie Inoue, there is no limit to depth of this selector’s bag. We were also lucky enough to have Satoshi welcome us when we rolled into town as part of our Asian tour, and we don’t have to labour the point that he knocked it out of the park.

Otsuki steps into top gear with his mix for our podcast series and wastes absolutely no time in asserting his style on the recording. From deep percussive tracks, to Christian Sarde’s new heater, and further into the reaches of his record bag, Satoshi exudes a swaggering confidence in his music. This sort of assurance in his track choice and journey can only come via a lifetime playing the highest calibre of sets. There is little doubt that this is exactly how Satoshi Otsuki cut his teeth and continues to journey deep into his sound.
