There is no denying that 2023 has been a year for Alexia Glensy, but then the same could perhaps be said for 2022. Either way it is clear that the British / Brazilian, Amsterdam based artist’s star is firmly in the ascent. After a jam packed summer program Alexia managed to fit into her schedule appearances at Planet Paradigm in Groningen, 909 Festival in Amsterdam, Sophie Festival in Malaga, Mare Festival in Siciliy, Ion Festival in Albania, as well as countless club dates in almost every country and city you can think from Europe to The States, and beyond.
What makes this success even better is that it is based on the quality of selections alone. Her on point and truly individual track collection combine so many sonic meeting points, most however intersect at a sound that is both “vintage”, yet current. Unearthing gems from years gone by and coupling them with brand new works that speak to this aesthetic is where her talents lie and thus presenting a sound that is all of her own. This ethos is also injected into her own label, clothing line, and event series LeMaia where the synergy between the three is stark. Her first clothing collection takes a direct identity from the colourful artwork that adorns her second musical release, such is the vision of her thoughts.
If you have been following Alexia of late you will know that her mix for our podcast series is a just inclusion and it is a poised and weighted 1 hour trip. Moving from lush, atmospheric moments through to more break filled bleepy pastures, all the while offering just the right amount of bite and musicality. A mix that demands many more listens, but are confident just one is enough to impress and ensure you seek out a live performance as soon as possible.
