Moroccan artist Kosh has been one of the best ambassadors for the local scene there and in the process has also been a major contributor to the world scene. His combination of blistering energy and knowledge of what works on the dancefloor has resulted in standout releases on top drawer labels Distrikt Paris, Syncrophone, Kalahari Oyster Cult, fellow Moroccan label Casa Voyager, and his own Convergence imprint.
Drums are a huge part of Kosh’s repertoire, and for his long-awaited offering to our Free Download series, he does not disappoint. “The Rise” swaggers out the blocks with a pristine shuffling snare rhythm that is the bedrock of the action throughout. Another weapon in Kosh’s arsenal is his basslines. Super deep bass tones shake any room to its core but never at the detriment of any of the other elements. Lush repeating pads soon insert themselves into the mix along with the subtle additive sounds that make every Kosh production sparkle. Simple yet complex, high energy yet laidback, these are no easy pairings to bake into a track but this has become the calling card of this talented artist.
